Renault Sales Statistics and Global Brand Scale

Renault brand sales should not be confused with Renault Group sales. Renault’s worldwide 2024 total was 1,577,351 passenger cars and light commercial vehicles, while the Group total across reported brands was 2,264,815.

Population 2024 vehicles Year-over-year change
Renault brand, passenger cars and LCVs 1,577,351 +1.8%
Renault brand passenger cars 1,174,380 +1.5%
Renault brand LCVs 402,971 +2.8%
Renault Group, reported brands 2,264,815 +1.3%

Source: In 2024 all Group brands progressed thanks to 10 launches. The Renault brand figures are worldwide brand sales, not total Group sales.

Dacia, Renault Korea Motors and Alpine represent separate reported populations in the Group’s brand reporting:

  • Dacia sold 676,340 vehicles worldwide in 2024, up 2.7%; its passenger-car total was 670,136 and its LCV total was 6,204, up 6.6%.
  • Renault Korea Motors sold 6,539 vehicles worldwide in 2024, down 70.3%.
  • Alpine sold 4,585 vehicles worldwide in 2024, up 5.9%. Renault reported that Alpine’s sales rose 5.9% for the fourth consecutive year.

The Alpine result is a brand registration measure, while the Dacia and Renault figures are brand sales measures in the same company-reported 2024 release.

Renault Group Market Statistics by Country and Region

Renault Group’s 2024 country table was provisional at year end, and its market shares are reported by Renault rather than independently audited. The figures describe Group vehicles and Group market share, not Renault-brand share alone.

Country Group vehicles, 2024 Reported market share
France 541,795 25.8%
Italy 205,423 11.7%
Turkey 167,262 13.5%
Spain 149,697 12.7%
Germany 144,586 4.7%
Brazil 139,214 5.6%
United Kingdom 121,711 5.3%

Source: In 2024 all Group brands progressed thanks to 10 launches.

The same report shows particularly high reported shares in two markets:

  • Morocco accounted for 67,686 Renault Group vehicles and a 38.4% market share in 2024.
  • Romania accounted for 61,217 vehicles and a 35.5% market share in 2024.
  • India accounted for 41,729 vehicles and a 0.9% market share in 2024.

These country observations are not directly comparable with the worldwide brand totals above because they cover Renault Group vehicles and use country-level market-share denominators.

Renault Group’s European vehicle mix in 2024 separates electrified vehicles, hybrids and battery-electric vehicles. Renault’s earnings definition includes EV, HEV and PHEV passenger cars and excludes MHEV.

Measure Population and geography 2024 result
Electrified vehicles Renault Group European sales 33%
Hybrids Renault Group European sales 24%
Battery-electric vehicles Renault Group European sales Close to 9%
Retail customers Renault Group European sales 63%

Source: 2024 results: Solid growth, record operating profit and net cash – Financial guidance exceeded.

The Group’s European electrified-sales share increased by 4.1 percentage points from 2023 to 33% in 2024. The EV mix reached 12% in the fourth quarter, which is a quarterly result and should not be substituted for the full-year figure.

Renault brand results were more electrified than the Group-wide European mix:

  • Renault brand European electrified sales represented 49% of sales in 2024.
  • Renault brand European HEV sales rose 30% and reached a 36% mix in 2024.
  • Renault brand European EV sales represented 13% of sales in 2024, exceeding 16% in the fourth quarter.
  • Renault brand C-segment-and-above vehicles represented 41.3% of European sales in 2024.

The Group and Renault brand figures use different populations, so the brand mix should not be read as the Group’s worldwide electrification rate.

Renault Investment, Research and Operating-Cost Statistics

Renault’s 2024 investment and research figures use several accounting definitions, so they should not be added together unless the company explicitly defines them as a combined measure.

Tangible and intangible investments before disposals €2,915 million Group
Net CAPEX and R&D excluding disposals €4,066 million 7.2% of revenue

R&D expenses €2,668 million Group accounting measure
Capitalized development expenses €1,163 million Related measure, not added to R&D expenses

The R&D capitalization rate was 43.6% in 2024, down 7.4 percentage points from 2023. Purchasing and other cost reductions contributed €792 million; this is a bridge contribution, not the Group’s total operating-cost reduction.

Automotive investments totaled €2,915 million, including €1,153 million of capitalized development costs. Sales Financing investments totaled €24 million, and Mobility Services investments totaled €17 million in 2024.

Renault Production and Industrial Footprint Statistics

The Palencia plant in Spain illustrates the scale of one Renault production location, but its output cannot be generalized to Renault Group production. The plant’s current profile reports that 85% to 90% of products are exported to more than 50 countries.

Palencia measure Result Period
Employees 1,927 December 31, 2024
Site area 166 hectares Current profile, accessed 2026
Covered buildings 33.4 hectares Current profile, accessed 2026
Mégane 4 production 8,952 vehicles 2024
Austral production 89,573 vehicles 2024
Espace 6 production 20,040 vehicles 2024
Rafale production 20,137 vehicles 2024

Source: Palencia Plant (Spain).

The four listed models accounted for 138,702 produced vehicles in 2024, a sum of the model counts shown on the plant page that excludes any unlisted production. The site was founded in 1978, making it 46 years old at the end of 2024; that age is derived from the stated founding year rather than being a production measure.

Palencia’s covered buildings represented 33.4 of the site’s 166 hectares. This is a footprint comparison, not a utilization rate, and the export range is a plant-level measure rather than a Group-wide export statistic.
